I live such an exciting life lately *deep sigh*. At least our house is finally getting the attention it needs.
The screen porch is still a work in progress. I think I’m being too finicky…nit picking over minute details. After three trips to Home Depot I found the right hardware set for the screen door. Yes…I couldn’t make up my mind regarding which set of hinges I wanted to place on the stoopid door. Feh.
Cro is outside working on the room right now. He finished up two corner pieces (molding still pending) and is working on installing the matchstick blinds as I type. The interior isn’t complete yet and it’s probably a bit too early to put up the window treatments ~ but the fact our dog walking neighbors feel the need to stare through the screens as they walk by our home in the evening is beginning to grate on me. At least now I can pull down the blinds and work in peace (me=recluse ~ “I vant to be alone“).
I spent my evening on Atlanta.Craigslist.com looking for dark wicker patio furniture for the screen room. I’m not sure if I want to make the screen room a sitting area or an alternate dining area ~ I’m leaning towards a dark colored wicker sofa and chairs with small accent tables. I think the wicker, with well chosen covers for the cushions, will make the room warm, cozy, inviting…and perfect for ‘Margarita Movie Night’ ;-p Otherwise, I’ll be moving the teak dining set into the screen room. I’ll have to break out the sewing matching and make new cushions for the seats (I tossed the originals ages ago). Once I manage to decide on the furniture the final decision on the paint will need to be made. Either way, I believe I found the fabric I’ll be using ~ a dark Moorish red with no pattern (pictured).
We desperately need to find a new sofa for our living room, as well. We ditched our old couch after the arm broke (my lil’ brother originally cracked it by sitting on it ~ Cro did it in by doing the same). I suppose it could have been repaired but Cro procrastinated too long and eventually I hit the point of just needing it to be out of my living room. Since our teeny little guestroom is pretty much my closet now (dressing room, if you prefer ;-p) we are looking for a sleeper sofa. Air mattresses just don’t cut it when family is visiting and the daybed once kept in the spare room was given to my mother long ago. Keeping in budget AND matching our color/decor scheme is going to be a real challenge. I have my fingers crossed that a lead pans out ~ the sofa would fit in our living room *perfectly* (it even matches our current love seat). Next time my sister visits I’d like to be able to offer her a comfortable place to stay. Also, my brother mentioned something about wanting his daughters to visit with their aunts and uncles in the future ♥ ♥ ♥
I suppose it’s time to drag the hubby back indoors and wind down for the evening ~ we both have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow. I’m still trying to find qualified candidates to fill four (possibly five) open positions within our company, knock out payroll, remedy benefit discrepancies, work with accounting on several outstanding issues, etc…all while dealing with employee issues as they arise (which they do…every ten minutes or so).
