My office is flooded. Ceiling tiles on the floor, walls warped and blistering, files and paperwork soaked, 80% of the flooring is wet (not damp…rather puddled). Our carpet guy is fairly certain I’m going to have a mildew problem (guess what I’m highly allergic too). Feh.
And it was just yesterday, as I was leaving the office, I said my week couldn’t get any worse ;-p C’est la vie…at least I have an excuse to not be productive today =)
Oh, yes! A must read: 1776 by David McCullough (review here &here). Truly an interesting perspective on the beginning and early days of the Revolutionary War, focusing mainly on the military aspect rather than just the political side. While the primary focus is on the key players McCullough brings forth the thoughts and opinions of the ‘common’ soldiers, the wives and families of those involved, etc. Once I had the book in my hands I was hard pressed to put it down. McCullough, a two time Pulitzer Prize winner, presents a thoroughly researched, and unbiased, narrative written in ‘detailed, elegant prose’.
I plan on picking up John Adams this weekend.
