Pounding headache. Screaming, rather. I have a problem with burning wood, leaves, etc. They set my system into a mad frenzy. My neighbor two houses down regularly burns leaves/branches/etc…even random 'camp' fires in the back yard. Even with my windows shut I breathe in just enough to feel as if (or even wish) my head was being cleaved in two. This afternoon I assumed the same neighbor was either burning leaves or having one of her 'potato roasts' in the backyard. christine9600's journal entry, that the house three or four doors down went up in flames earlier this afternoon. I remember hearing the sirens earlier today…my dogs barking and howling…thinking someone was having a bad day. I assumed the woods were on fire again. It happens on chilly days. One of my biggest fears is having my home burn. I'm not worried about my belongings (insurance will take care of most) but rather the well being of the creatures that depend on us ~ our Dweez, Kuro, Why, Winnie, Willa & reptiles. The thought of our animals being hurt, trapped in such a manner…I can't even fathom the horror. Simply terrifiying. Needless to say today I checked each and every one of our smoke/fire/heat/carbon minoxide detectors (one in each room and hallway) just for peace of mind. The batteries were changed fairly recently, as they are every equinox (an easy way for me to remember). Several of the alarm units were replaced this spring. Scarecrow finds it amusing ~ how 'overly' concerned I am when it comes to this particular issue. There is a lot behind my concern ~ aside from the obvious. Some memories are as indelible as tattoos ~ they cling no matter how you long to be rid of them.
I'm extremely grateful to be able to curl up in my own bed with my husband, knowing those I love rest soundly under the same roof. I don't know the residents involved in the blaze ~ but I wish them the best during this hardship.
