My muscles are a wee bit sore from going to the gym the other day but my spine *ooooch* I hurt my lower spine after a hiking mishap about seven years ago (maybe even longer ago than that). I slipped on slimey rocks, fell a couple of feet and landed smack on my tail bone *crunch* My tail bone is still slightly aksew ;-p After two years most of the issues with my spine worked themselves out with occassional flairups. Two days ago, while working on lower abs (I can’t recall the name of the exercise ~ your weight is supported by your elbows, back against a board and legs hanging free) I felt a click in my lower back with each leg raise. No pain ~ just an odd sensation and clicking. By the end of the night my back was bothering me a little bit. Today…*eeps* sitting hurts, standing hurts, walking is OK as long as I don’t raise my leg very high (stairs hurt) and getting in and out of the Jeep *groan* So far the most annoying symptom of the injury hasn’t re-occured ~ my legs haven’t given out in mid-step ;-p *knocks on wood* So if you see me and I’m bent over like Mr. Burns ~ now you know why. Maybe I won’t be so stoopid this time and actually see a doctor about the pain. The problem is it has never been excrutiating…annoying at best (I had to ask someone to plug in my air filter since I couldn’t bend and extend my arm ;-p). As long as I laugh when it hits I’m fine (may sound dumb, but it works.)
As for the other muscles worked out ~ as I stated they are a wee bit sore, but in a good way. I just need to stretch a bit. Speaking of stretching ~ we’re getting gravity boots this weekend!! That was the one thing that always made my back feel better and now we’ll have our own set *big smile*
Needless to say I didn’t make it to the gym last night. I hit the sofa when I got home from work ~ to take a quick nap ~ and didn’t wake up until 9-ish. I even slept through ZA…and I was craving it bad. Tonight I’m meeting Hexy for coffee ~ Christine might be coming along as well ~ and of course the boys have their HALO meeting.

I have degenerated discs in L4 and L5. I found this out when I landed in the hospital because I couldn’t bend or stand or walk….
I know the feeling. Get better!
You didn’t make it to the gym last night either, eh? Hehehehehe…I laid down to take a quick nap with Thomas and woke up around 7pm. Oops. But we did make it to Za, which was cool. Thomas is all about playing HALO tonight, so I’ll be around for coffee. Yay!
The ab exercises you spoke of put an extreme amount of pressure on your lower back. They generally are not considered very safe or effective. If they bother you stay away from them. If I remember correctly your gym has free personal trainers. Use one of them to get you set up on something that works for you with out causing you any problems.
omg i got it! “creepled”!
You should try and get someone to fix you up as much as possible because it only gets worse as you get older.
I got into a car accident a couple years ago, and *everything* in my back was hurt except my lower-mid back. Well, that part basically carried the rest of my back by itself and now it’s got problems of it’s own– if I had seen someone sooner, I would have been able to help that ONE part of my friggin back that was still okay, but now I look forward to entire~back back problems for the rest of my life.
–and the lowest part of you back is the worst place for an injury because it carries such a load– GET IT LOOKED AT! A Creepigurl that walks like Mr. Burns is not the vivacious Creepi we know and love… (okay, I’ve never met you, but you get what I’m sayin’…)
As a person who has experienced two severe back injuries…and from the description of your symptoms….I strongly advise you to see a doctor immediately about this. In the meantime, try to get as much bedrest as possible and elevate your legs at the knees while sleeping, if possible
*eek* I hope you are fully recovered. Back pain sucks!
Cool! We probably won’t be leaving until 7-ish since Barry is working a bit late (I’m abandoning him as a matter of fact.)
See you in a few!
I’ll take your word for it…stoopid abs can stay smooshy as long as it means I can walk ;-p
I haven’t had much luck with the trainers there but I’ll give it a go again…
Heheh ;-p
Oooch, that sucks! Bad backs seem to run in my family ~ I think I’m predestined to be a cripple ;-p
Mr. Burns isn’t so bad…at least it’s not Quasimodo ;-p
Heh ~ Last night, as per the usual routine, I napped on the livingroom floor with my feet up on the sofa. Who knew it was actually beneficial? Thanks for the advice…if it keeps up through out the weekend I’ll probably head to my physician’s office Monday.
See you tomorrow night?
Oh no, I’m completely recovered. This all happened over a year ago. :)
thanks! :)
Yes…I’ll be there…
Let me know if I can help. I was a bit preoccupied with home stuff Sat night.
